From: S Dufault
To: Council -Diane Howard; Council -Alicia Aguirre; Ibain(d)redwoodcity.org; Council -Shelly Masur; Council-Giselle Hale;
Council -Diana Reddv
Subject: RWCFD Station No. 9 Closure
Date: Monday, October 26, 2020 3:58:30 PM
Hello,
I am a resident of San Carlos CA, which, as you know, no longer has their own fire dept., so
we rely on the RWC Fire Department for services. Please do not close Station No. 9, as RWC
and SC residents rely on their services, and people cannot afford to have longer wait times
after calling 911. Long wait times will undoubtedly occur if this station is closed. It
appears to be a very busy station and people would then have to rely on neighboring stations,
some without the same services, to respond to fire calls and medical emergency calls.
Please review the budget again to see what can be done to avoid closing the busiest fire station
and supporting our firefighters! It is reported in the San Mateo Daily Journal that the fire dept.
is the only agency that will experience cuts to service, and other agencies are instituting only
hiring freezes. That seems wholly unfair, and at the same time, puts peoples' lives at risk, and
does the opposite of supporting the firefighters, who risk their lives to help others.
I hope you reconsider this decision and support our firefighters.
Thank you,
Sherrie Dufault
