From:
Vicki McDowell
To:
GRP -City Council
Subject:
Potential cannabis stores in Redwood City
Date:
Sunday, October 25, 2020 12:10:05 PM
Sent from Outlook
This email is in response to the news article regarding the cannabis stores. Although I have no
major objections to the opening of the highly regulated stores in general, I do have a major
objection to one of them being in the Woodside Plaza.
1. It is the closest shopping area to thousands of people that live in the Woodside Plaza
and surrounding areas. This plaza area sees a tremendous amount of car and foot traffic.
2. We have an elementary school and middle school in very close proximity.
3. We have had an uptick of vandalism and break-ins in the area.
4. Is there really any reason why Redwood City would want or need up to 6 pot shops?
Doesn't say much about our city.
I hope that you have a more thoughtful discussion about what is best for Redwood City, and in
particular the Woodside Plaza before finalizing your decision which will have a long-lasting
impact on our residential neighborhood.
Thank you for serving our city in a, hopefully, thoughtful way.
Kevin & Vicki McDowell
Redwood City, CA
