8.113. - Page 7 of 66 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY DESIGNATING 970 EDGEWOOD ROAD A HISTORIC LANDMARK <br />AND APPROVING A HISTORIC PRESERVATION AGREEMENT (MILLS <br />ACT CONTRACT) <br />WHEREAS, on April 27, 2020, Joe Raymond and Susan Raymond (Property <br />Owners) applied for Redwood City Historic Landmark designation and a Historic <br />Preservation Agreement (Mills Act Contract) (collectively, Project) at 970 Edgewood Road <br />(APN: 052-010-080) in Redwood City, California; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 13, 2020, the Historic Resources Advisory Committee <br />determined that the property meets Criterion B, C, and D for designation as a Historic <br />Landmark according to the historic designation criteria established by the Redwood City <br />Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Code) and <br />recommended by a vote of 3-0 for local landmark designation and approval of the Mills Act <br />Contract; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 6, 2020, the Planning Commission voted 7-0 to <br />recommending that the City Council designate the residence a Historic Landmark and to <br />approve the Mills Act Contract; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 9, 2020, the City Council held a duly noticed public <br />hearing in accordable with all applicable requirements of the State Planning and Zoning <br />Law, the Redwood City Municipal Code, and the Zoning Ordinance to consider the Project; <br />and <br />WHERAS, the residence and property located at 970 Edgewood Road, Redwood <br />City, California does meet the historic designation criteria established by the Redwood City <br />Historic Preservation Ordinance as follows: <br />B: It is identified with persons or events significant in local, State or national <br />history. <br />The house was the home of Ray and Nita Sprangler, who were both notable figures <br />in Redwood City and Peninsula history.
