rmm:
Kathleen Bak i
Ta
GRPLMG nal
Subject:
%eau deny Me Soudi Man GneyYar"e¢tonyht
nuts
Malay, Nwember 9, 20209: 97: 58 AM
Dear City Council,
I've reviewed the proposed plan by Greystar to change Redwood City forever. Although I
appreciate development and change to a certain degree, I am extremely concerned that this
project is lacking vision.
I am most concerned about two aspects missing from the proposed project:
-There is not enough housing AND/OR affordable housing included
-There is definitely not enough Green Space for the residents (as proposed, and definitely not
enough for more housing).
If we continue to deny affordable local housing, we will one day find ourselves with no more
teachers, handymen, nurses, artists, etc living on the Peninsula. By pushing out these trades
and professions, we are setting ourselves up for economic disaster. We will have to pay
MORE for their services here, because the labor will have to come in from 100 miles. And
what we pay for labor continues to use each year.
Furthermore, diversity of background coaches a community, and we welcome all (legal)
trades/professions here. And for those who are able to secure "affordable" housing, and other
housing, they should have some space in which to breathe. They need a place to walk their
dogs, let their children run and play. There is NO LACK of retail and office space in
Redwood City. Let's work in some breathing room.. if the pandemic has taught me anything,
it's that we need fresh air to survive.
Please deny Greystar's approval and request changes reflecting these concerns.
Sincerely, Kathleen Huber Bakshi
Principal Designer
W WN.KHBDESIGNS.COM
i
