(and links below) which is also served by LifeMoves, among others El Camino is a great facility in a great
location for a Homeless navigation center, near the bus terminus for both Sam trans and VIA, train station, grocery stores, drug store, Medical facility (Stanford
Hosp)
• Palo Alto Opportunity Center -built 2013, on 0.4 acres, just off ECR, and serves many people who come and go by bus. There are 88 units, a medical
clinic, laundry, social services and more. I'm sure the land was expensive but the location is critical when you need accessibility and have little money
and few options.
• The Bit of Supes is going to purchase (today's meeting) the Pacific Inn Hotel RWC at 2610 ECR. This huge site has 95 rooms on 1.45 acres. So if we let
them house some homeless, in temporaries, on the land across from the jail, for 2 -3 years, they could build a navigation center right on El Camino.
We should NOT put the homeless out on the bay edge, on the other side of 101, far from any amenities This is just dead wrong
Thanks for serving on Council for us all and caring so much
Best, Gita
CWG (Community Working Group)developed the Opportunity Center in partnership with the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Clara and
LifeMoves (formerly InnVision Shelter Network).
As part of the "housing first" concept at he Opportunity Center, CWG provides rent subsidies for new tenants moving from the streets, so that they can
start to stabilize their lives with the assistance of the service providers.
Supportive housing The Opportunity Center includes 88 affordable apartments and a wide range of services for individuals and families who are
homeless or very poor. The Opportunity Center is located on Encina Avenue, within walking distance of shopping and downtown Palo Alto's
transportation hub.
The ground floor is divided into two service centers — one designed to serve the general homeless and at -risk populations, and one designed to serve
homeless and at -risk women, women with children, and families. Services are provided by numerous nonprofit organizations, with InnVision Shelter
Network providing overall management and coordination. In addition, the ground floor houses a medical clinic operated by Peninsula HealthCare
Connection, a nonprofit hat CWG helped organize to provide medical and psychiatric services for the residents and clients of the Opportunity Center.
0 45 FM AK -,Ir ala,: - Go J, fhromc — 15 X
h gong le cc -i -121612472,583./data_3.111 e314m53m411s0rffiIefhb25259e6h440,F19706ad8df39,o18m24 3d37d39320d1dd-._ 9 0 Q
httos://www mercurynews com/2013/08/21/palo-altos-opportunity-center-provides-housing-for-silicon-valley-residents-who-previously-were-homeless/
httns://www lifemoves org director] [4pportuni -services-center/
This center opened in 2013 - quite a bit of community concern about location but they prevailed
These are all links to this facility Its very nice and the location is PERFECT
Best, Gita
