From:
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: County latest emergency meeting today.
Date: Thursday, November 5, 2020 5:49:03 PM
Hello City Council members,
It's unclear how much any of you knew that the county is purchasing two locations within
Redwood City for the homeless.
The Shores community is upset that no one let us know until a few days ago. We understand
there is a need and the timeline is extremely short. But Redwood City as a whole should have
been told this was a possibility.
I just spoke to Mayor Howard and she didn't even know there was a meeting today which the
county approved purchasing the two locations.
RSCA is adamant we will be part of the process from now on regarding the property in the
Shores just purchased. As most of you know we have had a space on the Heron Court board
for almost 30 years.
We have directly stated to the county that RWC is losing the property and hotel tax for two
hotels which is a hard hit for our city. We will work hard to make sure the county fulfills their
promise to pay RWC back forever for the loss of tax monies.
Honestly we are not very trusting of the county but will be keeping our eyes and ears open as
to what we are now into. Our biggest concern is the future for these two facilities. When your
rushed into a project like this big mistakes are made.
Please if you have any suggestions how we can work closer with the county for our city let me
know. It's a little shocking how little anyone knew of what they were planning...
Best Sue Nix
President of the Redwood Shores Community Association
