Those resources areas,
including Aesthetics, Air Quality, Cultural Resources, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and Transportation, are
discussed in the body of the DEIR. The remaining sections are discussed in the IS, which is an appendix
to the DEIR. Further, the City prepared a Consistency Analysis for Parcel F as that property is located
within the Downtown Precise Plan (DTPP) area and development contemplated under the DTPP was
analyzed previously in the DTPP Program EIR. The Consistency Analysis for Parcel F is also an appendix
to the DEIR. All mitigation measures from these analysis are summarized in the DEIR Executive Summary.
The EIR is intended to inform Redwood City decision -makers, responsible agencies, and the general
public of the potential environmental impacts associated with the proposed project. The DEIR identified
that the project would result in the following:
FIGURE 10—SUMMARY OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
ImpactSignificant
Aesthetics
Air Quality
Impacts
Cultural Resources
(project -related and
cumulative) associated
with removal of a historic
resource (Perry's Fuel &
Feed Shed)
Agricultural Resources Biological Resources
Energy Cultural Resources
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Geology Soils & Seismicity
Land Use Planning Hazards & Hazardous Materials
Mineral Resources Hydrology and Water Quality
Population and Housing Noise
Public Services and Recreation Tribal Cultural Resources
Transportation
Wildfire Utilities and Services
Cultural Resources - The DEIR evaluated 10 properties that are 45 years in age or older to determine
potential eligibility for listing in the CRHR and Redwood City criteria. Of these, 3 were found to be
potentially eligible: Perry's Fuel & Feed shed (Perry's Shed), the "Skate" signage, and the "Main Street
Coin -Op Car Wash" signage. The remaining 7 properties were not found to be eligible for listing.
As part of the project, the applicant proposes to demolish Perry's Shed and rebuild a replica structure that
generally matches the existing size, location, footprint, and shape. Identified mitigation measures include
recordation through archival documentation, implementation of a permanent interpretive display, and
architectural salvage and reuse. While these mitigations would reduce the adverse impacts of demolition
by limiting the loss of historical information, demolition of a historic resource is a significant impact
pursuant to CEQA.
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore
21
