6.A. - Page 237 of 251 <br />ATTACHMENT C <br />4.1.6 Specify a preference for packaging that is reusable, recyclable or <br />compostable, when suitable uses and programs exist. <br />4.1.7 Encourage suppliers of equipment, including but not limited to computers, <br />monitors, printers, and copiers, to take back equipment for reuse or <br />environmentally sound recycling when the City of Redwood City discards or <br />replaces such equipment, whenever possible. Suppliers will be required to <br />state their take back, reuse or recycling programs during the bidding process. <br />4.1.8 Promote electronic distribution of documents rather than printing or copying. <br />4.1.9 When producing paper documents, print and copy all documents on both <br />sides to reduce the use and purchase of paper. Printers and copiers shall be <br />set to default to duplex. <br />4. 1.10 Reduce the number and type of equipment needed to perform office <br />functions to save energy and reduce purchasing and maintenance costs. <br />Eliminate unnecessary desktop printers, redundant network printers and <br />reduce the number of fax machines leased or owned by the City of Redwood <br />City. Consider lease or purchase of multi -function devices. <br />4.1.11 Ensure all imaging equipment is installed with energy and resource -efficient <br />settings set as default. <br />4.2 Recycled Content Products <br />4.2.1 Specify and purchase products for which the United States Environmental <br />Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has established minimum recycled content <br />standard guidelines, preferably those which contain the highest post- <br />consumer content available, but no less than the minimum recycled content <br />standards established by the U.S. EPA Comprehensive Procurement <br />Guidelines. Products which have U.S. EPA minimum content standard <br />guidelines include printing paper, office paper, janitorial paper, construction <br />products, landscaping products, parks and recreation products, <br />transportation products, vehicular products, miscellaneous products, and <br />non -paper office products. <br />4.2.2 Specify and purchase multi -function devices, copiers and printers compatible <br />with the use of recycled content and remanufactured products. <br />4.2.3 In accordance with California Public Contract Code, Sec. 10409, purchase <br />re -refined lubricating and industrial oil for use in vehicles and other <br />equipment, as long as it is certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API) <br />as appropriate for use in such equipment. This section does not preclude the <br />purchase of virgin -oil products for exclusive use in vehicles whose warranties <br />expressly prohibit the use of products containing recycled oil. <br />3of171 Page <br />542 <br />
