Summary <br />Our community has spoken out forcefully regarding the massive and immediate <br />emergency we are facing due to the huge jobs/housing imbalance. This emergency has <br />resulted in an even more critical safety and health emergency in our City and County for <br />the homeless and many working families, including first responders as well as lower <br />wage workers, who can no longer afford to live and work in Redwood City. <br />While our community appreciates your efforts to address this growing crisis, it has been <br />getting worse by the year and has become a critical health and safety emergency. The <br />emergency has become even more acute due to the growing challenges presented by <br />the COVID pandemic and the extreme economic downtown. At this date, we simply do <br />not know with any reasonable certainty when the COVID crisis will end. The longer-term <br />impacts COVID and this new set of challenges cannot now be evaluated with <br />reasonable certainty and will be felt by our community for years to come. We cannot <br />responsibly commit to massive long term projects at this time. <br />Our City needs your insightful leadership now more than ever. Take more time. Gather <br />the data needed to make an informed and supportable decision on the South Main <br />Mixed -Use Project. Please do not rush to judgement with so many uncertainties and <br />questions raised above and by others.
