Strategies and Actions
Community Choice Aggregation and Local Renewable Energy
Community
EC -1 Choice Continue to provide renewable electricity and promote "opting up" to PCE's 55,042
Aggregation: ECO100 (100% renewable) service.
Community
EC -2 Solar Provide incentives for solar installation through Bay Area SunShares 5,778
Incentives Program or others.
This Plan calls for continuing participation in existing residential and commercial energy efficiency and demand
response programs offered by utilities and other agencies and adding energy conservation programs for residential
and commercial in the mid-term. It includes all -electric building reach codes, which were adopted by City Council
on September 21, 2020, to promote building electrification and EV adoption. Along with reach codes, the Plan calls
for providing incentives for electric panel upgrades and focusing outreach on solar and battery storage
opportunities. Lastly, this Plan calls for a microgrid demonstration project to promote the importance of energy
security and reliability especially with respect to climate change adaptation and resiliency.
Promote participation in commercial energy efficiency programs and
EC -5 Commercial Energy demand response programs offered by SMC Energy Watch and PG&E — 491
Efficiency Programs including PGE's appliance rebates, 0% energy efficiency financing and
demand response programs. Encourage commercial energy audits.
City of Redwood City Climate Action Plan 48
Residential Energy
Promote participation in residential energy efficiency programs, including
EC -6
Efficiency Programs
BayREN's Home Upgrade program and PG&E's efficient appliance
860
rebates. Encourage residential energy audits.
Commercial Energy
Establish a voluntary commercial energy conservation program,
EC -8
Conservation
encouraging minimum energy efficiency and water efficiency standards
997
Program
at the time of building sale. Transition to mandatory comprehensive
energy assessments and reporting by registered energy assessors.
Residential Energy
Establish a voluntary residential energy conservation program,
EC -9
Conservation
encouraging minimum energy efficiency and water efficiency standards
696
Program
at the time of building sale.
