91110[MIN1�/1�LVA ID <br />Proclamation <br />Honoring Council Member Janet Borgens <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens has been involved in Redwood City's local government since <br />1998 when she served on the Senior Affairs Commission for four years, followed by four years on the <br />Housing and Human Concerns Committee and nine years on the Planning Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens was elected to the Redwood City City Council in 2015 and has <br />served the communityfor a total of 22 abundant years; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens is a sel7ess and tireless volunteer who never says no when <br />asked to help, and always responds to the needs of residents, notably providing immediate and <br />personal assistance during fires and flood and leading support initiatives for teachers, families, and <br />Children; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens has always been a huge supporter of our seniors and low <br />income residents, being an integral part of what will become the future YMCA/Senior Center and even <br />helping serve senior meals; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens is passionate about emergency services, having served on both <br />the San Mateo County Emergency Services Council and the Pre -Hospital Emergency Service JPA, as <br />well as on the airport roundtable, working to reduce noise from SFO; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens always advocated for her neighborhood, striving to improve <br />bicycle /pedestrian connections and address ongoing parking challenges; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens was a strong voice for many of the most vulnerable in our <br />community, and is highly respected for her ability to value and encourage the good intentions of <br />residents, including those with whom she might disagree; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Borgens has made the community stronger by encouraging and <br />mentoring the future leaders of the Redwood City community, and her accomplishments while serving <br />on the City Council will continue to benefit our residents for decades to come. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, DIANE HOWARD, MAYOR OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Redwood City, do hereby honor and thank <br />Council Member Janet Borgens for her very valuable years of services, her passion and hard work to <br />serve the Redwood City community, and wish her the best in her future endeavors. <br />Date: December 7, 2020 <br />Diane Howard, Mayor <br />5M as AM.A M or <br />Alicia C.
