!V191& <br />prodamatioll <br />Honoring Vice Mayor Shelly Masur <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur was elected to the City Council in 2015 and has served on other local <br />bodies such as the Redwood City School Board, Redwood City 2020, and Peninsula Division of <br />California League of Cities; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur was appointed as Vice Mayor in 2019 and her many accomplishments <br />throughout her term include spearheading efforts to raise the minimum wage, increase childcare <br />facilities, and community engagement on affordable housing; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to serving the people of Redwood City, Vice Mayor Masur has been a leader <br />in education and women's health for over 10 years, and throughout her career she has led youth - <br />serving non profits, and held multiple education and women's health-related leadership roles; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur has been a long-time proponent for children, youth and equity and <br />her relentless support and advocacy for children and child care centers for all families has improved <br />the lives ofthousands ofchildren in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur championed the vote by Council for raising the minimum wage ahead <br />ofthe mandated California schedule; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur was a strong advocate for traffic safety through the Vision Zero <br />initiative, with a specific interest in improving the safety of El Camino Real and for bicycle /pedestrian <br />improvements around schools; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur was also a champion for community safety, advocatingfor a new local <br />ordinance to increase firearms storage requirements in our community, and recently serving on the <br />Ad Hoc Committee on Policing; and <br />WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Masur's contributions to the Redwood City community are paramount to its <br />success, and her accomplishments while serving on the City Council will continue to benefit our <br />residents for decades to come. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, DIANE HOWARD, MAYOR OF REDWOOD <br />CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Redwood City, do hereby honor and thank Vice <br />Mayor Shelly Masur for her many successful years ofservices, her passion and hard work to serve the <br />Redwood City community, and wish her the best in her future endeavors. <br />Date: December 7, 2020 <br />Diane Ho rd, Mayor <br />Alicia C.
