S.B. - Page 1 of 53 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: December 7, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Declaration of Results of the November 3, 2020 General Municipal Election for the City of Redwood City <br />based on the County of San Mateo Chief Elections Officer's Certificate and Final Official Canvass <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution declaring the results of the General Municipal Election for the City of Redwood City <br />held on November 3, 2020 as provided by law. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Redwood City holds its elections on even -numbered years and a General Municipal Election <br />was held in the City on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. On the ballot were four district -based City Council <br />seats with two candidates running in District 1, three candidates in District 3, one candidate in District 4, <br />and three candidates in District 7. The California Elections Code requires that upon certification of the <br />results of an election by the County Elections Officer, the City Council shall meet to declare the results of <br />the election. <br />ANALYSIS <br />On December 3, 2020, the San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer Mark Church certified the results of <br />the election and provided the City Clerk with a copy of the Official Election Results Report (Attachment <br />A).
