S.C. - Page 1 of 21 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />Ago/ <br />DATE: December 7, 2020 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Agreement for Services and Amendment No. 1 to Agreement for Services with B -K Mill & Fixtures, Inc. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, ratify Agreement for Services with B -K Mill & Fixtures, Inc. in an amount of $85,615 to build <br />and install counters at the City Hall front public counters and determine that competitive bidding was not <br />likely to serve the best interests of the City or to result in the lowest price, and approve and authorize the <br />City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Services in an amount not to exceed <br />$60,000, with the total amount of the Agreement not to exceed $145,615. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2018, the City of Redwood City's (City) Public Works Services Department (PWS) embarked on a <br />Citywide Facility Security Enhancement Project (FSEP) intended to increase security within City facilities. <br />Many City facilities, including City Hall, were originally designed with open concepts lacking many of the <br />physical barriers and visitor checkpoints necessary today to ensure a secure facility. Through extensive <br />collaboration with staff across all departments, the project's scope and design took shape in ways that <br />would accomplish the desired level of security while maintaining operational efficiency for staff to engage <br />with and serve the public. <br />PWS has been actively working on completing the FSEP using a phased approach. In FY 2019-20, staff <br />solicited informal bids from four contractors to complete phase one of this project. B -K Mill & Fixtures, <br />Inc.
