<br />6.38 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />April 14, 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Water Connection and Service - 1340 Edgewood Road, unincorporated San Mateo <br />County, CA. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve, by resolution, a request to the Local Agency Fonnation Commission (LAFCo) <br />for extension of water service outside jurisdictional boundaries to 1340 Edgewood <br />Road, unincorporated San Mateo County, pursuant to Government Code Section <br />56133. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The property at 1340 Edgewood Road (APN 058-030-030) is outside the city's <br />jurisdictional boundaries and sphere of influence, but within the city's water service <br />area. The city has provided water service to the existing residence on the parcel since <br />at least 1995. The owners of the parcel have applied to San Mateo County for approval <br />to subdivide and construct a new single family home. The proposed development <br />requires a new water connection and service from the city. The watermain that <br />currenUy serves the existing residence is adequately sized to provide the additional <br />service to the new residence. <br /> <br />Staff recornmends that the city request LAFCo's approval to extend water service <br />outside jurisdictional boundaries to 1340 Edgewood Road pursuant to Government <br />Code Section 56133. LAFCo requires Council approval, by resolution, of requests that <br />the City makes to LAFCo for extensions of service. The proposed water service <br />extension wiu provide water connection and service to the newly subdivided lot located <br />at 1340 Edgewood Road. Extension of service is subject to the following conditions and <br />fees. <br /> <br />1. LAFCo approval of the apprication for the proposed extension of water service; <br />2. Property owner's payment of the City's water service annexation fees when request <br />is made for service extension; <br />3. Property owner's payment of LAFCo fees; <br />4. After approval of the construction drawings by the San Mateo County Building <br />Department and upon application for new water service, property owner's payment <br />of all applicable Redwood City fees, including connection fees and construction <br />costs assocrated with providing proposed water service extension. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to approve application to LAFCo for the extension of service <br />which would result in the denial of water connection and service to a newly subdivided <br />lot. <br />
