From:
Steven W. Russell
To:
Council -Diane Howard
Subject:
Support Housing & Transit in Downtown Transit Area Plan
Date:
Tuesday, February 2, 2021 11:01:39 AM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside your organization. Exercise caution when
opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders.
Dear Mayor Diane Howard,
Dear Redwood City City Council,
As a Redwood City community member, I am emailing you in support for the Transit District
planning process and Sequoia Station proposal with modifications.
Sequoia Station is a key piece of Redwood City's Transit District Area Plan. It unlocks
transportation improvements, provides market -rate, missing middle, and affordable homes and
is vital to Caltrain's future. The Transit District has a lot to balance, and we support the efforts
that have been made to advance as much housing on site as possible while continuing to focus
on overall long-term assets for our community — housing, transportation, youth, updated retail,
sustainability, and bicycle and pedestrian connections.
Please focus on two additional tracks through Redwood City, a 4 -track elevated station and
grade separations at Chestnut, Main, Broadway, Brewster and Whipple.
Together, Redwood City can stay true to the principles of smart growth, equity and create a
vibrant community for all!
Thank you for your leadership.
Sincerely,
Steven W. Russell
Redwood City, CA 94061
