Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. City Council - This is Misha Silin, a 4 year resident of Edgewood Park. I am writing regarding item 8A on tonight's agenda, the Sequoia Station redevelopment. First, I think it's crucial that we find a way to redevelop the transit center so that we can have more trains coming through. From that perspective, this project is very important. My concern, which I have voiced before, is that this project will continue to worsen the already terrible jobs/housing ratio in Redwood City and the peninsula in general. I did read the feasibility report. If the only housing projects that pencil out in Redwood City are those with office, which then creates more demand for housing than the housing that is being built, we have a serious problem. I urge council to look into this as quickly as possible to figure out how to change this.Given recent projects that were already approved, such as Broadway Plaza and the Greystar development on El Camino, our pipeline is on track to create even more housing demand than what we have now, and already the area is completely unaffordable to most families. Again, given the importance of the Caltrain redevelopment, this project needs to move forward quickly, but I urge you: 1. Max out the housing for this project as much as possible 2. In general, once we are past this particular project, the city needs to step back and think about the overall jobs/housing trend in the city and correct it as quickly as possible by finding ways to incentivize housing. We may want to consider an office moratorium or cap while this issue is studied more closely. Thank you for your work and for your time - Misha Silin (he)
