7C Page 8 ATTACHMENT 3 Notice of Proposed Increases in Water & Sewer Rates Proposed new water rates The City of Redwood City staff has recommended that service charges and consumption rates for water be increased, primarily due to a projected 7 - 10% increase in the cost of wholesale water from the City and County of San Francisco and increased debt service associated with financing the City's Recycled Water Project. The proposed increases are as follows: . Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $15.60 to $16.05, effective June 20, 2008. . Increase residential consumption rates effective June 20,2008, as follows: Existing Rate Tiers ! 0-10 units 11 ~25 units 26-50 units 51+ units Cost per Unit $1,80 $2.30 $3.75 $5.30 Proposed Rate Tiers I 0-10 units 11-25 units 26-50 units 51+ units Cost er Unit $1.96 $2.50 $4.08 $5.76 (A unit = 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons) . Increase monthly commercial Basic Service Charge for a 5/88 meter from $15.60 to $16.05. effective June 20, 2008. . The City Council will hold a public hearina on Mondav. April 28. 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. 1017 Middlefield Road. At the hearing, the City Council will consider public comments, as welt as any written protests against the proposed water increases.
