<br />7D <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT THREE <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED INCREASES IN WATER AND SEWER RATES <br /> <br />Proposed new water rates <br />The City of Redwood City staff has recommended that service charges and consumption rates for <br />water be increased, primarily due to a projected 7 - 10% increase in the cost of wholesale water <br />from the City and County of San Francisco and increased debt service associated with financing <br />the City's Recycled Water Project. The proposed increases are as follows: <br /> <br />· Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $15.60 to $16.05, effective June <br />20, 2008. <br />· Increase residential consumption rates effective June 20, 2008, as follows: <br /> <br />Existing Cost per Proposed <br />Rate TIers Unit Rate Tiers Cost per Unit <br />0-10 units $1.80 0-10 units $1.96 <br />11-25 units $2.30 11-25 units $2.50 <br />i 26-50 units $3.75 26-50 units $4.08 <br />51 + units $5.30 51+ units $5.76 <br /> <br />(A unit = 100 cubic feet or 748 gallons) <br /> <br />· Increase monthly commercial Basic Service Charge for a 5/8" meter from $15.60 to $16.05, <br />effective June 20, 2008. <br />· Increase monthly commercial Basic Service Charges for larger meters by the same <br />percentage as 5/8" meter increase (3%), effective June 20. 2008. <br />· Increase commercial consumption rates effective June 20. 2008. as follows: <br /> <br /> Existing Cost per Proposed <br /> Rate Tiers Unit Rate Tiers Cost per Unit <br /> 0-15 units $2.30 0-15 units $2.50 <br />I 16+ units $3.75 16+ units $4.08 <br />I <br /> <br />The amount by which water bills at any particular property will be affected by these increases <br />depends on the size of the meter connection (in the case of commercial property) and the amount <br />of water consumed. <br /> <br />The City Council will hold a public hearinQ on Mondav. April 28. 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at City <br />Hall. 1017 Middlefield Road. At the hearing. the City Council will consider public comments. as <br />well as any written protests against the proposed water increases.
