To aid in <br />understanding traffic implications and traffic counts, they created a traffic district to attribute the number <br />of trips and understand the value of linked trips. An overall mobility strategy was created with multiple <br />types of mobility and uses such as shuttle, train, bike~ pedestrian and trolley help to show the entire <br />picture and benefit of development that is dense but has multimodal movement. <br /> <br />Climate change and jurisdictions responsibilities to respond were discussed in length. Especially valuable <br />was ICLEI staff person, Garrett Fitzgerald's five point approach to climate protection: fnventoty your <br />emissions, establish targets, develop your climate action plan, implement climate action plan, then <br />monitor/evaluate progress. The first three can be done through oW' relationship with ICLEI; the last two <br />rely upon us. ICLEI has tool kits, a handbook and 150 different strategies to choose from. A sample of the 150 <br />different strategies and resource areas include: energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy generation. <br />alternative fuel vehicles, TOO, and trip reduction. Benefits can be achieved from bicycle and pedestrian <br />planning with linked circles of activity for housing, jobs, shopping and recreation. Reports must be <br />submitted before the CIty of Redwood City will pay per diem or reimbursement for the conference or the meeting.
