<br />6.1C <br />The fireworks display will be conducted at the Port of Redwood City, with street closures Page 2 <br />and vehicular and vessel traffic control measures to be determined by the Police <br />Department to regulate the orderly flow of vehicle and boat traffic. <br /> <br />The City agrees to provide the following services and facilities: street sweepers, <br />barricades, bleacher delivery, installation of flags along the parade route, use of a fire <br />hydrant for an antique fire truck demonstration, access to Court House Square, access <br />to the parking structure on Marshall Street for vendor parking, closure and parking <br />restrictions as detailed in the PCA parade application and letter along various city <br />streets starting at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2008 to 6:00 pm until Friday, July 4th, <br />2008. <br /> <br />The letter permit contains standard "hold harmless" insurance and course control <br />provisions. A formal insurance certificate will also be provided upon approval of the <br />proposed event plan. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council could choose not to authorize the execution of the letter permit. The <br />selection of this alternative would end a seventy year tradition in Redwood City. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Based on expenditures for the 2007 celebration and the event plans for 2008, the total <br />projected cost to the City will be approximately $72,500. Total Police Department <br />overtime costs for traffic and crowd control is projected at $34,000. Public Works <br />Services Department costs for barricade rental and overtime are projected at $28,500, <br />and Fire Department overtime is projected at $4,500. Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services Department staff, equipment and entertainment costs are <br />projected at $5,500. Up to thirty-five thousand dollars of Police Department overtime <br />costs are budgeted and will be absorbed by the Redevelopment Department's <br />Economic Development Fund.
