Broadway Mall - no through traffic ( July 4 from 9:00 AM to 12.30 PM) Main St. from Broadway to Marshall St. Jefferson Ave. from Broadway to Marshall St. 6.1C Page 13 Traffic Diversion - Parade and Lineup area: The PCA is requesting the temporary closure of the left turn lane from west bound Whipple to Winslow be closed from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm on July 4th to reduce traffic and to ensure the safety of parade participants. The PCA will setup and remove appropriate signs, barricades, and traffic cones. Use of Pedestrian Barriers: Request through the County OES the use of the steel pedestrian barriers for traffic control and spectator safety. The PCA will provide a list of times, locations, and quantity of barriers needed for the Parade and Lineup areas. Veterans Blvd - traffic diversion North Bound Traffic will be diverted from Veterans Blvd to alternate streets during the parade. Specific times and alternate streets for this diversion to be determined by Police Department Special Fire Lane on the Parade Route at Bradford & Main During the parade no vehicles except for emergency fire or medical will be permitted to cross this intersection. The Fire Department requires clear access through the intersection of Bradford and Main during the parade if an emergenq response condition occurs. To insure that fire equipment call cross tlte parade route, the peA will do the following: 1. Notify all parade entries in writing and on Parade day that a separation of75 feet will be maintained between units at that intersection. 2. Parade entries will be stopped prior to crossing the intersection if there is insufficient space between them and the proceeding unit to completely pass through the intersection. 3. Entries containing multiple wlits may be separated as needed when crossing that intersection. Any need for unit separation will be determined by parade supervisors on-site. 4. The PCA will provide a senior parade supervisor on Main Street to monitor the flow of units through tbe intersection. 5. The PCA will provide an additional supervisor at the intersection to monitor the fire equipment parked outside of the Fire Station or on Bradford. At the first activation of any combination of flashing lights, sirens, or air horn, the parade will be halted and all participants and/or vehicles will be cleared from the intersection. 6. No spectators will be allowed to be in the Bradford Street crosswalks at any time during the parade. 7. The peA will provide equipment to the Fire Department for direct communications with the Parade supervisors at tbe intersection of Main and Bradford. The Fire Department will notify staff personnel, visitors, and guests attending the Annual Pancake Breakfast to limit all non-essential use of this intersection during the Fun Run and parade. peA 2008 July 4th Event Plan Page 4 of 10 Revised 3/28/2008
