Animal Control <br /> <br />Close attention must be given to the presence of burrowing animals, since <br />they may not be readily detected without a thorough inspection. Burrows <br />created by gophers, muskrats, opossums, badgers, and other animals can <br />lead to rapid levee failures during floods. For this reason, an active animal <br />abatement program needs to be implemented to remove these animals. <br />Rodent control techniques involving fumigation, bait stations, bait <br />broadcasting, or trapping have proven effective in certain situations, but <br />you should always contact the state's Fish and Game Agency, <br />Department of Natural Resources, or Wildlife Agency to determine which <br />rodent control procedures are allowable and recommended in the area. <br />Inspections to detect the presence of burrowing animal activity are <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />April 2008 <br />
