<br />04/28/2008 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14857 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AMENDING THE STRATEGIC GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY TO PROVIDE A GENERAL PLAN LAND USE DESIGNATION OF <br />MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL TO A PORTION OF UNINHABITED <br />PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED AT PARKING LOT 3 OF THE CANADA <br />COLLEGE CAMPUS, AS FURTHER DESCRIBED IN THIS RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after a duly noticed public hearing on November 27, 2007, the Planning <br />Commission of the City of Redwood City (the "Commission") recommended to the City Council <br />of the City of Redwood City (the "City Council") an amendment of the Strategic General Plan of <br />the City of Redwood City (the "General Plan") to provide a general plan land use designation of <br />"Medium Density Residential" to the uninhabited property (Assessor Parcel Number 068-320- <br />340) located at Parking Lot 3 of the Canada College campus, currently in the Town of <br />Woodside, as shown on the attached Exhibit "3A" incorporated herein by this reference. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council, having reviewed the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission and having considered the evidence, including the Mitigated Negative Declaration <br />prepared by the San Mateo County Community College District (Lead Agency and the <br />Applicant) for the Faculty/Staff Housing Project at Canada College (Project) and the First <br />Addendum to that MND prepared by the City of Redwood City (Responsible Agency), received <br />at the public hearing, duly noticed and held for said proposed General Plan Amendment, finds <br />that the proposed Amendment is in the public interest and consistent with the purposes of the <br />Redwood City General Plan. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this <br />reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br /> <br />2. That the General Plan is hereby amended to provide a General Plan Land Use <br />Designation of "Medium Density Residential" to a portion of the uninhabited property <br />(Assessor's Parcel Number 068-320-340) located at Parking Lot 3 of the Canada College <br />campus, as shown on the attached Exhibit "4A". <br /> <br />3. The proposed General Plan Amendment shall become effective at the same time that <br />the annexation becomes effective. <br /> <br />4. Pursuant to California Government Code section 56375, the proposed General Plan <br />Amendment shall be in place for a period of two years after the completion of the annexation <br />proceedings. <br /> <br />5.
