<br />04/28/2008 <br /> <br />ORGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14855 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />ADOPTING THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY LEVEE OPERATION AND <br />MAINTENANCE MANUAL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, FEMA is implementing a Flood Map Modernization (Map Mod) program to <br />convert paper Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) to digital. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, FEMA recognizes the risk and vulnerability of communities with levees, and <br />mandates the inclusion of levee evaluations for those communities undergoing map changes. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has the responsibility of providing documentation that levees under <br />its jurisdiction meet the requirements of Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations ("CFR") <br />Section 65.10 of the National Flood Insurance Program. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, without the required documentation necessary to comply with 44 CFR <br />Section 65.10, FEMA will be unable to recognize the levee system. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the adoption of the City of Redwood City Levee Operation and Maintenance <br />Manual ("City Levee O&M Manual") constitutes the first step in demonstrating compliance with <br />44 CFR Section 65.10. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this <br />reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br /> <br />2. The City Levee O&M Manual, that was presented to the City Council at their meeting on <br />April 28, 2008, was filed and made available at the Office of the City Clerk, and incorporated <br />herein by this reference, was prepared according to and is hereby adopted pursuant to the <br />requirements of 44 CFR Section 65.10. <br /> <br />3.
