The recycled water is <br /> provided by the South Bayside System Authority(SBSA), of which the City is a member. <br /> The purpose of the Recycled Wate�Use Ordinance is to ensure the maximum pub(ic <br /> benefit from the use of the City's recyGed water supply by estabiishing a recycied water <br /> service area, and requirements for bath required and voluntary use within the service <br /> area. It is the policy of the City that recycled wa#e�shall be used for nonpotable uses <br /> wherever its use is economicalfy justified, financially and techn�cally feasible, and <br /> consiste►�2 with legal requiremen#s and the preservation of the public health, safety and <br /> we{€are, and#he environment. <br /> WHAT DOES THE ORDtNANCE lNCLUDE? <br /> The ordinance wil! inciude the following sections: <br /> • Findings, purpose, and water recycfing policy <br /> � Definitions <br /> � Reference to federal and state regulations and permits goveming the use and <br /> distribution of recycled water <br /> • Description and map of recycied water service area to be enacted <br /> • The service area map can be revised via companion resolutions in tF�e fu#ure <br /> • Requirements for required use of recycled water <br /> • Requirements for voluntary use of recycled water <br /> • Recycled water permit process <br /> • Reference to the Recycled Water Users Guide, which will be develaped <br /> separately tay the City <br /> � Sanctions and enforcement <br /> F4R WHAT USES WILL RECYCLED WATER BE REQUIRED? <br /> The draft ordinance states that recyclec!water will be required for the following uses: <br /> • Existing and remodeled commercial and industrial buitdings: <br /> o Extemaf landscaping <br /> . • New comme�cial, industrial, institutionai and governmental projects: <br /> o Internal separate plumbing of water closets, urinals, trap primers <br /> o tntemal cooling towers and evaporative cooiers <br /> o Extemal {andscaping <br /> • New apartments and condominiums <br />
