Proclamation: American Red Cross —Volunteer Jose Valle of the Leadership <br /> Council of the American Red Cross. Mayor Foust presented the <br /> proclamation and highlighted some of this organization's <br /> accomplishments. Mr. Valle explained some of the programs that <br /> the American Red Cross has in the Bay Area and announced <br /> upcoming events. <br /> B. Recognition: The Veterans Memorial Senior Center received the honor and <br /> recognition of having its accreditation read into the Congressional <br /> Record by the late Honorable Tom Lantos of the California House <br /> of Representatives. Jodie Paley, Chairperson of the Friends of <br /> the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, thanked the Council for this <br /> opportunity. She also acknowfedged Craig Vermeer who is a <br /> member of this organization. Mayor Foust announced that Linda <br /> Griffith, who was in the audience, had been honored at the Arbor <br /> Day event with a Redwood tree being planted in her honor. <br /> C. Presentation: Communiiy Development Services Department — Acting Direetor <br /> Chang of Community Development Services. Mr. Chang <br /> provided an overview of this City Department (presentation <br /> on file). <br /> Council posed questions regarding the relationship befinreen the Community Development <br /> Department and the Redevelopment Agency. Mr. Chang provided details on the finro <br /> areas and how the Redevelopment Agency will be making a presentation to Council in the <br /> near future. Questions were asked about the current job market and Mr. Chang provided <br /> details on the hiring climate in the area of engineering. Council appreciated the <br /> organizational chart and said these might be useful for the PACT sessions as well. <br /> Council inquired about dissemination of information within Community Development and <br /> Mr. Chang explained that this is done via weekly and individual meetings.
