The proposed ordinance inoarporates a new"Administrative Fee°for each <br /> backflaw prevention assembly that is installed at the meter or within a customer's <br /> water sys#em. Ttie proposed fee is$60 annualiy and it wou(d be placed in the <br /> cuStomer's water bill in rrionthly or bi-monthly installments. For example, a <br /> water customer who has a l�adcflow prevention assembiy that is protecting a City <br /> water meter would be charged$5 per manth,or$60 annually. <br /> 5. The City will develop and main#ain a lis#of backtlow prevention assembly tes#ers <br /> who have been authorized and certified by the City to pe�form such tests. To be <br /> piaced on the City's list, Testers wiN be required to show evidence that they <br /> possess a valid contractors license,a Redwood City business license, a vafid <br /> 8ackftow Prevention Testers Certificate issued by the American Water Warks <br /> Association and valid cafibration certiflcation for the gauges used to test backflow <br /> assemblies. Testers may also be required to pass an examination administered <br /> by the City to be placed on the Certifted Tester List. <br /> 6. The proposed ordinance, if adopted,woukf grant the Public Works Services <br /> DirecEor the authority to use City staff or to hire a contractor to perfarm the <br /> required annual badcflow prevention assemby tesf and charge badcflow <br /> assembly users the cost#w such tests.
