BACKGROUND The water meters for Oracle anr! Peninsula Landing (Corlc Harbor) were installed as part af the original development more than 20 years ago. The meters are part of #he public distribution system and are owned and maintained by the City. The four meters have outlived their useful Iife and are outdated to the extent that services to calibrate, maintain, and repair the equipment can no longer be secured. The proposed project wilt ceplace a ta#al of faur detector water meters; two ten-inch mete�s at Oracle and two six-inch meters at Peninsula Landing. The new meters will be suppfied by the same manufacturer as other more recently purchased units. Increased standardization of equipment throughout the City makes repair and maintenance more efficient, economical, and reliable For each meter replaced, the work wi11 consist of removing the existing concrete vault, water me#er, piping and appurtenances; installing a new concrete vault, master detector meter, backflow preventer, piping and other appurtenances, and restoring all pavernent and {andscaping dis#urbed as a result of the work. Backflow prevention will be provided for all meters which protects the potabie water suppiy from cross contamination by various sources including recycled water. Eleven (11) bids were received at the bid opening on May 96, 2008 for the "Redwood Shores Meter Replacement Project"which are summarized below.
