Mana. ~r <br />... . .. .. <br /> <br />June 9, 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood <br />Shores Distribution System - Bid Package 4 (Redwood Shores Parkway, Airport Way, <br />Skyway, Twin Dolphin Drive, & Electronic Arts Drive) Project. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood Shores <br />Distribution System - Bid Package 4 (Redwood Shores Parkway, Airport Way, Skyway, <br />Twin Dolphin Drive, & Electronic Arts Drive) Project, and authorize the release of bonds <br />and the retention according to City procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 12, 2007. the City Council awarded the construction contract for the <br />Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - Redwood Shores Distribution <br />System - Bid Package 4 Project to Shaw Pipeline, Inc. of San Francisco, California. <br /> <br />This is the fourth pipeline project that extends and completes the delivery of recycled <br />water to new commercial irrigation and City roadway landscape customers in Redwood <br />Shores. Construction included a connection to the previously completed U.S. 101-Bike <br />Path Pipeline section. The completion of Bid Package 4 is an important milestone in the <br />construction of the Recycled Water Transmission System as delivery systems for <br />Redwood Shores service area are completed and construction begins on systems to <br />service the Bay Front and Seaport areas. <br /> <br />The project was awarded for a base bid of $2,662,950.00. Three (3) change orders <br />totaling $45,577.78 (1.7%) were issued and final project cost is $2,708,527.78. Change <br />orders resulted from quantity adjustments, and additional work attributable to <br />incidental/unforeseeable site conditions. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project and authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract and prior Council action. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds have been appropriated for this project from the Water Revenue Bond proceeds. <br />The City has issued a series of three Water Revenue Bonds to finance Phase 1 of the <br />Recycled Water Project. Available project funds, less unattributed interest, currently <br />total $11,096,930. <br />
