<br />6.2A <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />,I I kCHMElr ' ij <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br />DOWNTOWN SEASONAL BANNER PROGRAM <br /> <br />Purpose <br />Banners add vitality and vibrancy to a downtown. If well coordinated, they can <br />also enhance both the general identity of downtown and promote special events; <br />thereby, increasing activity. <br /> <br />The purpose is to create a banner program that will: <br />. Enhance the identity of downtown <br />. Capitalize on the on-going redevelopment and sense of place <br />. Promote special events <br />. Change messages and imagery over time to stimulate interest <br /> <br />The key objective is to create a program that is effective I economical and flexible <br />and enhances the sense of place in the Downtown. <br /> <br />Banner Tvpes <br />. Laroe Banners (Arterials): located on Veteran's and EI Camino, <br />generic message promoting overall Downtown area. <br />. Small Banners (Core): located in Downtown Core. promote events <br />or general messages, imagery, themes. <br />. Special Banners: located on Clock Tower, Gateway Arch and <br />Jefferson Overpass; promote special events, seasons, special <br />imagery or themes. <br />. Destination Banners: located near library. City Hall, Fox Theatre. <br />History Museum, On Broadway, County Center; promote <br />destinations or special blocks. <br />. Sponsorship Banners: opportunity for local business and public <br />and educational institution sponsorships in exchange for having <br />their name or logo included on the banners. A single business <br />could sponsor an entire program or multiple businesses could <br />sponsor a limited number of banners each as part of a consolidated <br />program. No more than 20% of the display area on each side of a <br />banner promoting a special event or area theme would be devoted <br />to the sponsorship identification. Display time of 12 weeks, with <br />extensions available. <br /> <br />Oth"r <br /> <br />. Specifications vary by banner type & location. <br />. City sponsored events and banners have priority over all eligible <br />applicants for Special, Destination and Sponsorship Banners. <br />. Installation contract will be awarded via bid process for installing <br />and taking down the banners, with the exception of the Special <br />Banners, which may be put upltaken down by Public Works. <br />
