<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />from the Oi., Maf\a, er <br /> <br />July 28, 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - 2006-2007 Street Overlay Project (Alameda de las Pulgas - Bay <br />Road - Florence Street) <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the 2006-2007 Street Overlay Project (Alameda de las Pulgas - Bay <br />Road - Florence Street) and authorize the release of bonds and retention according to <br />City procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 24, 2007, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the <br />2006-2007 Street Overlay Project to Granite Rock Company DBA Pavex Construction <br />Division of San Jose. The 2006-2007 Street Overlay Project is part of the City's <br />Roadway Management System (RMS) Program, which performs on-going pavement <br />improvements. The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the <br />plans and specifications. <br /> <br />The contract was awarded for a base bid $1,787,382.41. One (1) change order was <br />issued totaling a credit of $97,492.45 to be deducted from the base bid amount. The <br />final contract cost is $1,689,889.96 (5.5% reduction). The change order resulted from <br />final quantity adjustments. <br /> <br />AL TERNA nVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project which would be contrary to the terms of <br />the contract and prior Council action. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />This project is partially funded by a Federal Surface Transportation Program grant (STP) <br />totaling $900,000.00.
