<br /> <br />8A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />July 28,2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Draft amendment to Redwood City Charter initially entitled, "The Voter Approval <br />Requirement for Future Development of Cargill Lands". <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Consider adoption of Resolution submitting the proposed city sponsored Charter <br />amendment to voters of Redwood City. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the July 21, 2008 meeting, the City Council heard testimony from the public with <br />respect to a proposed city sponsored amendment to the Redwood City Charter initially <br />entitled, "The Voter Approval Requirement for Future Development of Cargill Lands". <br />This measure would require majority voter approval for development of the Cargill <br />lands. The City Council made suggestions with respect to the city sponsored measure <br />and directed staff to refine the measure and return the measure to the City Council for <br />further consideration. <br /> <br />Attached to this report is a red-lined version of the city sponsored measure which <br />indicates changes to the initial draft by showing in brackets { } deletion of language and <br />underline indicating addition of language. Also attached is a final draft version of <br />the measure. The City Council may direct that further changes be made or may accept <br />the attached draft as an amendment to the City's Charter to be submitted to the voters <br />of Redwood City and order it placed on a ballot.
