<br />Recommendation: <br />Consider adoption of Resolution submitting the proposed city sponsored Charter <br />amendment to voters of Redwood City. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />CALIFORNIA, SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT <br /> <br />B. Submission of certain amendments to the Redwood City Charter to the voters of <br />the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Staff contact: Stan T. Adopt a resolution calling and giving notice for the holding of a special <br />municipal election on November 4, 2008, for the submission of proposed <br />amendments to the Charter of the City of Redwood City; setting forth the ballot <br />questions as each will appear on the ballot; setting forth the relevant election <br />calendar for ballot arguments; directing that the full text of each of the initiatives <br />are to be included in the ballot pamphlet; directing the City Attorney to prepare <br />impartial analyses of each proposal, and directing City Council to draft <br />arguments in favor of City Council sponsored measure and against Two-Thirds <br />Vote Approval measure. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2008, FOR THE SUBMISSION OF <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENTS, SETTING THE BALLOT QUESTIONS, <br />SETTING THE CALENDAR FOR BALLOT ARGUMENTS, DIRECTING THE FULL TEXT <br />OF AMENDMENTS TO BE INCLUDED IN BALLOT PAMPHLET, DIRECTING CITY <br />COUNCIL TO DRAFT BALLOT ARGUMENTS, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANAYLSIS <br /> <br />2. Adopt a resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of San <br />Mateo to consolidate the Redwood City special municipal election with the <br />statewide general election to be held on November 4, 2008. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF <br />SAN MATEO TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNCIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />NOVEMBER 4,2008, WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />THE DATE PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Clerk to enter into a Service Agreement for the provision of <br />election services with the San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer to conduct <br />a special election for the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />4.
