<br />7A <br />Attachment C-2 Page 18 <br /> <br />requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a Special Municipal <br />Election for the City of Redwood City with the Statewide General Election on <br />Tuesday, November 4, 2008, for the purpose of submitting two proposed City <br />Charter amendments. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the two measures are to appear on the ballot as <br />follows: <br /> <br />"Shall a Charter Amendment requiring majority voter approval for future <br />land uses other than agriculture, parks, cerlain extractions from San <br />Francisco Bay, or restored wetlands on Cargill Lands, approximately <br />1,450 acres east of Highway 101 and south of Seaporl Boulevard, be <br />adopted?" <br /> <br />The full text of the proposed "City Council Measure" Charter amendment <br />to be submitted to the voters is attached hereto as Exhibit "A~1 thru A~5". <br /> <br />"Shall a Charler Amendment requiring two-thirds voter ratification of <br />legislative acts approving future land uses other than agriculture, public <br />parks, cerlain extractions from San Francisco Bay, or restored wetlands in <br />areas of the City designated as "Park", "Unimproved Areas (Land or <br />Water)", "Future Development Expanding Limits of Urbanization", <br />"Controlled Waterways (Redwood Shores Area)", or "San Francisco Bay <br />Water" in the General Plan or designated as "Tidal Plain" or "Redwood <br />Shores Bay Front" in the Zoning Code, be adopted?" <br /> <br />The full text of the proposed "Two~Thirds Vote Approval" Charter <br />Amendment to be submitted to the voters is attached hereto as Exhibit "B-1 thru <br />B-9." <br /> <br />Section 3. That the County Elections Department is authorized to <br />canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election. The election shall be held <br />in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall <br />be used. <br /> <br />Section 4. That the Board of Supervisors is requested to issue <br />instructions to the County Election Department to take any and all steps <br />necessary for the holding of the consolidated election. <br /> <br />Section 5. That the City of Redwood City recognizes that additional <br />costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to <br />reimburse the County for any costs. <br /> <br />Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy <br />of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the County Elections <br />Department of the County of San Mateo. <br /> <br />A TTY/RESO/RESO.1829 <br />073108 <br /> <br />2 <br />
