<br />REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />5D-i. <br /> <br />To the Honorable ftWayorandCity Council <br />Frqm the Cf.. , ,,~o~ '. ef <br /> <br />August 11,2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Status Update from Pilot Community Tree Board <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Receive an informational presentation from the Pilot Community Tree Board regarding <br />their work during the past ten months and provide direction to the Board and staff if <br />necessary. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The five members of the Pilot Community Tree Board were appointed by the City <br />Council in October, 2007 and were assigned the task of further developing the 25 <br />recommendations of the original Tree Task Force. The Community Tree Board has met <br />approximately 18 times and is supported by staff of the Public Works Services <br />Department. The Initial Key Tree Board Recommendations are: Launch an education <br />program to encourage preservation and expansion of Redwood City's urban forest; <br />Fund code enforcement to protect trees using current ordinances; initiate a permit fees <br />matrix; strengthen the City's policies that protect trees during construction and <br />development projects.
