<br />AGREEMENT WITH SERVICE LEAGUE OF SAN MATEO COUNTY <br />FOR FUNDING TO ACQUIRE PROPERTY AT 96 BUCKINGHAM AVENUE <br /> <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this ~day of ,Ai/A rz..r2008 , <br />by and between the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a municipal co~ of the <br />State of California ("City"), and Service League of San Mateo County, a <br />California nonprofit corporation ("Contractor"). <br /> <br />WITNESSETH: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Section 24 of the <br />Code of Federal Regulations, Part 92 for the HOME Investment Partnership <br />Program (HOME), funding assistance may be used to fund eligible activities to be <br />carried out by private non-profit entities or public agencies which are duly <br />organized to undertake affordable permanent and transitional housing <br />development services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Consolidated Plan and Housing Element goals <br />include expanding the supply of affordable special needs housing for Redwood <br />City households; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County has applied for funding <br />assistance under the HOME Program and CDBG to acquire a parcels of land in <br />the City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County proposes to acquire <br />residential property to be used to provide supportive transitional housing for very <br />low income chronic homeless individuals and individuals at risk of homelessness; <br />to prevent homelessness and to prevent re-incarceration; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Service League of San Mateo County has an option to <br />purchase 96 Buckingham Avenue (the "Property"), owned by the seller in the <br />unincorporated area of the County of San Mateo and within the sphere of <br />influence of the City of Redwood City, California; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has allocated One Hundred Sixty Thousand <br />Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($160,500.00) in Community Development Block <br />Grant and Eighty Nine Thousand Five Hundred and 00/100 Dollars ($89,500) in <br />HOME funds toward the acquisition of the property, and <br /> <br />A TTY/AGR/2008.072 <br />081308 <br />
