�"f���'� � 6.2A <br /> Page 20 <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD C[TY <br /> UTILITiES SPECIALIST <br /> DEFINITION <br /> To serve as Utilities Specialist for designated utilities system overseeing the wark of <br /> Public Warks employees in various classifiications; to inspec#, maintain and repair <br /> pumps, pumping structures, control valves and other system controls in the water, <br /> sewer and starm drains systems; to maintain supervisory control and data acquisition <br /> (SCADA); and to perform other specialized water quality control functions as <br /> assigned. <br /> DISTINGUISHtNG CHARACTERISTiCS <br /> This is the most advanced journey level class in fihe Public Works class series. The <br /> Pubfic Works Utilities Specialist assists the section's supervisor in scheduiing, <br /> assigning and reviewing the work of more junior employees. This positinn is <br /> characterized by the abilify to perform the most complex and skil[ed water control <br /> service functions and the requirement to provide technical and job refa#ed guidance <br /> and training to others in a variety of skill areas. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AN� EXERCISED <br /> General direction is provided by a Public Works Supervisor. <br /> Responsibilities include functiona[ and technical supervision of other Pubfic Works <br /> maintenance and lead workers re{ated to specialized maintenance and repair <br /> procedures. <br /> EXAMPLES OF ESSENT[AL AND 1MPORTANT DUTtES <br /> 1. Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives and priarities for the <br /> assigned sec#ion's work crews, related to utilities specialist. <br /> 2. Plan, direct, coordinat� and review the work of Public Works maintenance, <br /> repair, instailatian and construction activities. <br /> 3. Recommend to management necessary repairs and impravement within <br /> assigned systems. <br /> 4. Assist in preparing requisitions for necessary equipment, material and supplies; <br /> assist in preparing equipment specifications. <br /> 5. Maintain records necessary to monitor performance of assig�ed pubiic works <br /> systems. <br /> 1 <br />
