The new
compensation program requires that the salary range for each Department Head
c[assficatian is established by using the lowest and highest sa(ary for each position within
the City's group of comparabie cities_ Additionally, on December 14, 2004, the Council
Personne(Sub-Committee decided to es#ablish the same saiary setting criteria for Division
Heads in the Executive Managemen#group.
A marke# sunrey for 2008 was conduc#ed by interna( HR staff and has been reviewed by
the executive management group. The recommencled salary ranges are based on the
lowest and highest salary for each position wi#hin compaable cities. Setting the salary
range does not affect any salary increase. Criteria for setting Executive Management
salary increases for Department Heads and Division Managers are ultimately de#ermined
by the Ci#y Manager annuafly. There is no guaranteed increase.
if approved, the new safary ranges will be effective July 1, 200$.
ALTERNATNE
The alternative wouid be to retain the current saiary ranges.
FtSCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscai impact at this time. Adjusting the ranges does nat automaticalty initiate
salary increases. Granting of salary increases will be determined by the City Manager and
will be within approved salary ranges and current budget parameters.
Bob Befl Peter Ing am
HR Director Cify Manager
