(805) Minute Order 08-069 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE VII, DIVISION 4 SECTIONS 116, 717, 718, 119, <br /> 120, 733, AND 134 AND CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE VII, DIVISION 9 SECTION 784 OF <br /> THE REDWOOD CITY CODE (First Reading April 28, 2008). <br /> Chu Chang, Acting Community Development Director, presented the report and <br /> explained briefly why this action is required. Mr. Chang thanked the Downtown <br /> Committee for its input. He explained that the changes are based on the needs <br /> that have been expressed. <br /> Mayor Foust opened the public hearing. <br /> None. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Bain to close public hearing. Motion carries unanimously by <br /> voice vote. <br /> M/S Hartnett/ Bain to introduce the ordinance. <br /> Various Council Members spoke about the goals of this plan and its chalienges. <br /> There was a suggestion to use flashing signs highlighting that "there is no fee <br /> after 6:00 pm". Council thanked staff for the work that has been done. One <br /> Council Member explained that this is not set in stone and another commented <br /> that that persisting with the plan is the tough thing to do, but it is also the <br /> necessary thing to do. Mayor Foust thanked staff and the committee for all their <br /> work. <br /> Motion carries unanimously by roll call vote. <br /> 8. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion <br /> of City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California <br /> Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 15-2008. New General Plan Monthly Status Report — Vice Mayor Howard (Informational <br /> Staff Report). <br /> Vice Mayor Howard introduced the item and explained that more is planned for the <br /> future and to date eight affinity group meetings have taken place. Interim City Manager <br /> Ingram said that the response to the General process has been extremely positive.
