The Mayor reread the letter which came up during a prior meeting during Matters of
Council. Vice Mayor Howard wished to repeat that due process was being followed by the
City and staff with regard to the signatures and certification as it moved through the proper
channels toward the Council meeting of July 7, 2008. Council continued to discuss the
various options including withdrawal of the measure, continued dialogue and/or Council
returning with a counter proposal. Mayor Foust commented that Council was open to have
all parties discuss these issues and possibly withdraw the initiative and return to address a
plan that would be a better fit with well defined objectives and areas of concern. Mayor
Foust encouraged Redwood City to take the opportunity to trend set in this regard as they
have been known to do it in other areas.

8. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus available in
City Clerk's Department).

Council Member Ira spoke to requests he received at Stafford Park with regard to
parking and near-accidents in the park area, and asked whether or not there could be
police presence and/or observation by a City Engineer to observe and then bring back
suggestions for traffic safety in that area. He stated the good news was increased park
use.

Council Member Pierce shared an invite by Dan Furtato, 2008 Division President to the
Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities, and its first meeting at the
Shoreline Restaurant, with a program focusing on gangs and gang violence, in
addition to a panel of experts, and also the proposed addition of two additional
members to the executive board to occur that same night.

M/S Pierce/Bain to adjourn to a Closed Session at 10: 1 0 p.m. on June 30, 2008.

Council Member Pierce adjourned in memory of Carma Odell who passed away on June
16, 2008.
