<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and CityCot.ln~U <br />FromtheCi ,ftI8naer <br /> <br />November 24, 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - 2007-2008 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the 2007-2008 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and authorize the <br />release of bonds and the retention according to city procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 23,2008, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2007-2008 Asphalt <br />Rubber Chip Seal Project to International Surfacing Systems of Modesto. The project <br />was awarded for a base bid of $698,388.56. Construction began in July, 2008. The <br />project is successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. One <br />(1) change order for a credit totaling $16,775.31 was issued. The final contract amount <br />is $681,613.25, and 2.4% less than the contract amount initially awarded. Change <br />orders resulted from quantity adjustments. <br /> <br />This project resurfaced roadway segments roughly bordered by G Street to the north, <br />Winslow Street to the east, Marshall Street to the south, and Stafford Street to the west. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and <br />public contracting code. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Appropriations for this project have been previously approved by Council in the budget <br />for Fiscal Year 200712008, Transportation (Measure "A") Funds - Street Pavement <br />Management Program and Transportation Grants (Proposition 1 B) - Street Pavement <br />Management Program. <br /> <br />$~~ <br />M.
