CI.erk. <br />ro .,..,..c..._,..._.,. __. . .'.".." <br /> <br />December 8, 2008 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Results of the November 4, 2008 Special Election, Consolidated with the General <br />Presidential Election, based on the San Mateo Chief Elections Officer Certificate and <br />Final Official Canvass. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Adopt a resolution reciting the facts of the Special Consolidated Election held on <br />November 4, 2008 and declaring the results and such other matters as provided <br />bylaw. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On December 2,2008 the County of San Mateo posted the Statement of the Vote after <br />conducting its 1 % manual recount. The City Council is being asked to adopt a <br />resolution declaring such results final and certifying the Special Election held in <br />Redwood City. The Certificate of the Chief Elections Officer of the County of San <br />Mateo, executed on December 2, 2008 is attached. Based on such results the two <br />measures on the ballot, Measure V and W, did not pass. <br /> <br />At. TERNATIVES <br />None <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br /> <br />During one of its meetings in July, the Council directed staff to bring back the number of <br />hours spent on the measures. One measure was the result of an initiative and the other <br />the result of Council action.
