This can only be successful with the support of the RWC PD. <br />. Both streets are now very clean and look visibly better. <br />. Some residents on Douglas readily help in the cleaning and have prepared some areas <br />for sweeper's arrival for cleaning. <br />. We have received several thanks on both streets. <br />. We have also noticed other problems like sidewalk repair needs and tree trimming, <br />shopping carts, etc. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Area Specific Observations <br /> <br />Marshall Street (west-side) <br />. Predominately commercial properties <br />front on Broadway with rear service <br />entries or parking lots at rear on <br />Marshall Street <br /> <br />. Properties wall or screen off visibility <br />to Marshall Street - don't see what is <br />accumulating outside the fence <br /> <br />. Suspected abandoned cars have <br />been found only on this side of the <br />street <br /> <br />. Very dirty, lots of litter in the street, on <br />sidewalk & accumulated in private <br />property landscaping. <br /> <br />. Business owners reluctantly accepted <br />flyers about the parking enforcement <br /> <br />. Visibly more trash than natural debris, <br />possibly due to proximity of nearby <br />convenience store on Broadway & <br />Maple <br /> <br />Marshall Street (east-side) <br />. Predominately multi-family residential <br />front on Marshall St. & have a vested <br />interest in street cleanliness <br /> <br />. Apartment complexes maintenance <br />staff tend to pick up litter in front of the <br />buildings to keep an attractive <br />appearance for potential renters. <br /> <br />. Where commercial businesses back <br />onto Marshall St, similar problems <br />exist with trash and debris <br /> <br />. Apartment complexes management <br />offered to distribute flyers about the <br />parking enforcement to tenants <br /> <br />. The east side has more natural debris <br />and less trash. <br /> <br />. Some natural debris caused by the <br />gardeners being unable to clean <br />because of parked vehicles. <br /> <br />Doucdas Ave <br />. City-side of street is mostly low density residential <br /> <br />. Some residents prepared the fronts of their properties for the sweeper, i.e. trimmed <br />landscaping overhang at the curb, clearing sidewalk debris to the curb I gutter for <br />sweeper pickup. <br /> <br />. Residents were waiting for the sweeper to come and gave on the spot feedback about <br />sweeping & other issues, i.e. trees, sidewalks, litter <br /> <br />. Cited vehicles tend to be at either end of the street, closest to the commercial <br />businesses located on Middlefield Road and Spring Street. <br /> <br />. Parked vehicles are not a problem in front of residential properties <br /> <br />4 <br />
