;7d-9

Attachment 1 - Report To City Council
Pilot Street Cleaning Program Progress Report
December 8, 2008

.

.

STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that City Council consider changes or addition of other streets to the
Pilot Program following the next progress report. The following considerations should be
a part of the decision to modify or expand the Pilot Program

. Coordination with PD ! CSO officers and sweeper operator is critical to success

. Review of personnel! staffing constraints for PD and PWS. More streets may require
additional CSO support and another Sweeper Operator.

. Consider the impact that "selective" street postings can have on surrounding
neighborhood streets, particularly in high density areas.

. Evaluate the effectiveness of ticketing after a minimum of 6 months into the program,
not including November 2008. Staff recommends to end of March 2009

. Staff recommends next progress report to Council Utilities Committee in April 2009.

. If Council is interested in expanding to additional streets, staff can present selection
criteria for Council consideration.

NEXT STEPS I COMING MONTHS
.
