4. INVOCATION — Chaplain Dennis Logie, Redwood City Police Department <br /> Mayor Foust thanked Chaplain Logie for his invocation and the arrangements he makes on <br /> a monthly basis so the Council has an invocator. <br /> 5. SPECIAL ORDERS: <br /> A. Presentation — Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department — Corinne <br /> Centeno, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director. <br /> Ms. Centeno gave a presentation on how the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br /> Department functions and its relationship to Council's priorities. She covered the <br /> departmenYs organizational chart, budget, current projects and initiatives that will be <br /> coming to Council in the future. Ms. Centeno ended with a video on Redwood City's Parks, <br /> Recreation and Community services (presentation on file). <br /> B. Proclamation — Recognizing July as Parks and Recreation Month. <br /> Mayor Foust stressed that Ms. Centeno's presentation did not truly cover everything that <br /> this Department does. Various Council Members stated the video's name, "Our Space" <br /> was an apt way of describing how far-reaching this Department is, and its partnerships with <br /> other agencies. The Vice Mayor complimented Ms. Centeno's leadership. Council <br /> appreciated the mention of Councils priorities. The Mayor stressed again the many <br /> programs available for the youth, seniors and other members of the community made <br /> possible by this Department. Mayor Foust read parts of the proclamation and presented it <br /> to Ms. Centeno. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR - CITY <br /> COUNCIL/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY BOARD <br /> Joshua Klein spoke on the Sequoia High School District construction project and asked <br /> Council for help with this project and its cross jurisdictional lines. He stated the project is <br /> well underway, but still poses concerns for residents in that area, and he hoped for more <br /> help from the City. He read excerpts of the Brown Act. <br /> The Mayor asked the City Attorney to comment on the code just read and how it affects <br /> placing future items on the agenda. <br /> City Attorney Yamamoto spoke to the Brown Act.
