Priority Focus Bulletin No. 28-2008. Council may direct staff to act on positions
taken by Council. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus available in
City Clerk's Department).

B. Ongoing Matters

1. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - Redwood Shores Levees.
No current update other than it is ongoing.

2. San Mateo County Jail Site.

Public Comment:
James Jonas stated one of the areas proposed for the jail is Dock Town, and hoped to
encourage the County to take a look at how this affects neighborhoods and sites. He
wished that those in the involved neighborhoods could speak as to how this affects them.

Nancy Radcliffe agreed that the County should look elsewhere as there are enough jails in
Redwood City. She stated she is still gathering petition signatures which will be sent to
the County.

The Mayor stated they were also preparing a letter with a position on the public process,
and the need to look at other locations outside the City, and also setting up a meeting with
jail and County officials to continue discussion on this issue.

1. Update on Elwood Street I Sequoia Union High School District.

The Mayor stated Council was given a written update on what is happening with the
residents in this area and the Sequoia High School District. She stated they would be
bringing this back to Council for discussion since, due to the late hour, members of the
community who had wanted to comment had left for the evening. Concern was expressed
over it being pushed beyond the next meeting. Mayor Foust suggested reaching out,
through the City Manager, to let community members know this issue may be pushed out
as far as the August 11, 2008 meeting if this were the case.

10. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 11 :01 p.m.

MIS IraNice Mayor Howard to adjourn. Motion was carried by unanimous voice vote.

Respectfully submitted,

Silvia Vonderlinden, Certified Municipal Clerk
Submitted for approval at the City Council Meeting of December 15, 2008.

REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MINUTES

JULY 28,2008
PAGE 13
