5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> A. Presentation - Ceremonial Swearing-In of newly appointed Boards, <br /> Commissions, and Committee members. <br /> Members were sworn in as a group with the Oath of Office read by City Clerk <br /> Vonderlinden. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Public Comment: <br /> David Lewis spoke on behalf of Save the Bay and its efforts to ensure the amenities on <br /> the bay shoreline. He spoke on the Bair Island improvements and the involvement by the <br /> community and schools. He stated that he hoped Council would continue to support <br /> efforts in this arena. <br /> Mayor Foust stated it had been a long process and she expressed the Council's <br /> appreciation for the collaborative efforts. <br /> Dr. Steven Howard made an appeal for the development of a volunteer code enforcement <br /> group in that a volunteer group would be helpful in enforcing signage concerns and also in <br /> tracking projects. <br /> Mayor Foust asked that this be brought back at a subsequent meeting. <br /> M/S Aguirre/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by title, <br /> adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. <br /> 6.1 Section - Motions <br /> A. Approval of the "Ray of Light Birdbath" Public Art for installation adjacent to the <br /> new Redwood Shores Library. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Approve, by motion, "Ray of LighY' Birdbath for installation adjacent to the new <br /> Redwood Shores Library; authorize staff to use an amount not to exceed $100,000 <br /> from the GR Cress Birdbath fund for its acquisition and installation. Purchase of Six Ford Escape Hybrid Vehicles. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Approve by motion the purchase of six Ford Escape hybrid vehicles in the amount <br /> of $175,648.02 from San Francisco Ford of San Francisco, California under the <br /> cooperative purchasing agreement of the University of California, San Francisco's <br /> Purchase Order #0000185607.
