<br />'" <br /> <br />No smoke flue shall be less than 8 inches by 8 inches plastered on the <br />inside and such sized flue shall have but one inlet; for two inlets the <br />flue shall be not less than 8 inches by 12 inches plastered on the inside, <br />and for a larger nmnber of inlets the size shall increase in proportion. <br />Flues larger than 200 square inches and less than 500 square inches <br />area shall be surrounded by walls not less than 8 inches thick; flues <br />larger than 500 sq~are inches and less than 1000 square inches area shall <br />be surrounded by walls not less than 12 inches thick to a height of 15 feet <br />above the inlet, and eight (8) inches thick the remainin:,;;; height; flues <br />larger than 1000 square inches area shall be proportionately increased in <br />size and shall be lined with fire brick for at least twenty feet above the <br />inlet. <br />Bakery oven flues shall not be less than 12 inches by 12 inches in the <br />clear and shall be surrounded by brick work not less than 8 inches thick: <br />The inside 4 inches of all boiler flues for boilers of over 25 horsepower <br />shall be of fire brick, laid in f~re mortar, for a distance of 25 feet in <br />any direction from the SOUl'ce of heat". <br />Chimneys and stacks connected with steam boilers shall extend not less <br />than 10 feet above the woodwork of the roof, or any adjacent roof, and if <br />sa':i'ldust, shavings or wood are burned, shall extend 20 feet above such <br />roofs and be provided 'i'li th a spark arrester. Spark arresters shall be <br />placed upon all chimne~rs and stacks whenever by the Board of Trustees it <br />is deemed necessary for the safety of property. <br />Chim..'1eys and flues from boilers, restaurants and hotel ranges, bakers <br />ovens and similar unusually hot f1uesl shall have the outside exposed <br />throughout the height of the room in \vhich connection therewi tl1 is madel <br />and if plastered be plastered directly upon the bricks. <br />All chimneys having greater flue area than 260 sQuare inches shall be <br />carried up at least 10 feet above the hig"est point of the roof of the <br />building of v[hich they form a part, and 10 feet above tl1e hig'.sst point of <br /> <br />any roof withi9 50 feet of such chimney. <br />24 <br />
