BROPHY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council was saddened to learn of the <br /> <br />passing of John J. Brophy on May 13, 1981; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John Brophy served as the City Assessor - <br /> <br />Auditor for the City of Redwood City from 1946 through 1963; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during his years of service for the City <br /> <br />John Brophy instituted modern assessing and municipal <br /> <br />accounting practices which were of particular significance <br /> <br />during a period of rapid growth and development in the <br /> <br />area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John also was active in, and a leader of, <br /> <br />various professional associations, having served as a <br /> <br />president of the California Society of Municipal Finance <br /> <br />Officers and the Association of Bay Area Governmental <br /> <br />Accountants, and other professional associations relating <br /> <br />to his chosen career; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in addition to his many professional <br /> <br />achievements, John also participated actively in fraternal <br /> <br />and service organizations, and through his church, religious <br /> <br />activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John actively continued his interest in <br /> <br />municipal activities following his retirement, and always <br /> <br />evidenced his devotion to his community; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. This Council does hereby express its profound <br /> <br />sadness upon the passing of John J. Brophy, and in doing so <br /> <br />8867 <br />
